Evaluate This!

I'm attempting to complete my team evaluations for Design Studio, but I'm having a hard time not giving my team perfect scores. I need to think creatively to decide which category a team member gets a 4/5 instead of the usual 5/5. I'm just spoiled, I guess.

From the Book!

In class today, my professor omitted a proof because it was very similar to a previous one. I had to restrain myself from yelling, "It's from The Book!" Instead, I had a little party internally for about five minutes and got over it.

Skis + Paraglider = Insane

This is absolutely insane, and I really want to do it.

So Close...

How sad is it that I'm counting down my responsibilities until I can leave tomorrow? Perhaps I'm already getting senioritis, but I definitely want the semester to be over. Thanksgiving break should be wonderful, followed by three quick weeks of sadness.

The Last Few Weeks

The last few weeks have been pretty crazy. I've been battling sickness through programming competitions and sign offs and lots of naps. Now, I'm attempting to be productive and grade while fighting a nap. Sorry for the lack of updates.

Rock Envy

Guitar Hero II came out yesterday, and some friends of mine have already unlocked every single song on expert. They are much better at it than I. However, I like to play it anyway, and realized that my messed up pinkies give me extra difficulty when stretching between the high and low keys. Now that number 2 is out, I think it might be possible to grab a version 1 controller, and mod it to have thinner buttons as higher frets. See the photoshop below:

Guitar Hero 10-fret

I'm not sure how difficult this would be. There are plenty of mods out there already. There's also a third-party controller coming out with 10 frets, but it looks more like an unusable gimmick. Those tiny circle buttons are just too small, and still the same distance apart as the other frets. Mine would be full height buttons, but thinner to allow my pinky to make the stretch.

We'll see how much I get paid tomorrow, and if there are any used controllers for cheap.

Abstractions from Applications

This weekend was hell, including a couple tests, a couple homeworks, and a paper. Then, I decided that Monday night should be devoted to graduate applications. I got almost half of them done, and put together a list of things I need to do for the rest. All of that combined made me so busy that when I got done with class yesterday with no approaching deadlines, I didn't know what to do with myself. Apparently, blogging wasn't really a priority over playing some Guitar Hero II or watching TV. Relaxation was more important.

Alarming

I should get an alarm clock that can play Dragonforce every morning. It is a much more effective way to wake up than previous methods.

I've been working too much

I was in team time when Rosenbaum approached me about an external expert coming to Kauffman to get us prepped for using Microsoft CRM, since all of the projects are using it now. We had already worked with it, so we would lead the testing effort. Instead of actually getting to work, I put a huge TV in the team room and watched DVDs until the team arrived with Rosenbaum and a real-life Lenny Leonard, but he went by "Carl."

Due to my lack of professionalism, I got kicked out of the meeting. I got a chance to sit in the hallway while a pretty strong rain started. Apparently, some new windows were installed that fogged up when exciting weather happened in order to keep people on task instead of looking at the rain. However, it only worked for the top two-thirds of the window, so I could still see the rain from my seated position.

It was a strange rain. Since the weather is just about freezing, the moisture was grabbing dust and small twigs as it froze in the air, so large clumps of debris were floating to the ground. I remarked to Katie "That's strange, I've never seen that before, but it makes sense." She replied, "You often admit to the simplest things being foreign to you. You should stop that." I made my response in the most humble tone, even though it doesn't really sound like it. "Some very complex things are very simple to me. I had to make some space."
